MiraCosta Hispanic Serving Institution Title V Grant

MiraCosta's HSI Title V Grant outreach strategy has historical roots that go back to Latin America in the 1950s where local women were trained to deliver trusted reproductive‑health education in underserved communities. Since then the “Promotoras De Salud” outreach mobilization model has spread, even playing a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic in California and abroad. 

From dispelling myths to sharing new educational resources, the HSI team has leveraged the Promotoras model to earn the confianza of Latin communities and engage key partnernships with external organizations. I've had the incredible honor to serve in the first cohort of "Promotores De Educación" and do some of the foundational work integral to bridging gaps between Latino communities and MiraCosta, in and out of campus.
