In anticipation to the mid-term election in 2022, I had the amazing privilege to lead an city council campaign, serve as Legislative Affairs Director for MiraCosta's Associated Student Government (ASG), and engage with a Puente Civic Engagement Service-Learning Project. Leveraging all these opportunities, I decided to activate a group of dedicated volunteers to gain service hours and learn about the importance of voting by empowering their community to vote.
A week before the election day, I strategically implemented a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) initiative as President Biden attended a rally on-campus. My initiative and our efforts were covered by a range of media organizations and we were ultimately able to civically engage our community by providing voter registration information as well as Lyft vouchers for polling station access.
Experience:
Hard Skills:
Data collection and visualization
Soft Skills:
Project management and Community Outreach
Outcome:
Organized 30+ students to table.
Distributed 50+ Lyft vouchers for polling station access.
Engaged 100+ students in voter registration workshops.
The Adopt-A-Classroom Initiative was an annual Puente Service Learning project aimed at directly addressing the Latino Educational Pipeline in my community. Historically, the program (fully led by Puente students) had two major components: 1) a campus tour led by students, and 2) STEM/other workshops in collaboration with other clubs. As President of Puente Club, my role was spearheading the initiative with the support of my Puente Counselor, but I saw the potential to do more.
Leveraging my own personal experiences, I knew that inspiring elementary students to go to college isn't enough. We needed to empower parents to understand the college system, from navigating financial aid to having a candid seminar about the emotional impact of having your children go to college. These parent workshops were crafted by incorporating cultural competency, empathy, and more importantly, our own families. We asked some of our parents to come in and speak to other parents about their experiences, further cementing the reality and importance of going to college.

Stanford Bicycle Project is an on-campus club that provides free and accessible bike education, repairs, and parts. Stanford is widely known as a huge bike campus and as such demand for our services is always needed.
As a Mechanic, I assist with the repair of over 50 bikes per quarter while sharing safety resources (lights, bells, etc. ) and education. Most of our services go towards students with great need making our work very impactful.
As the Financial Officer, I provide timely and responsible management of the organization's fiscal resources. Besides processing invoices and purchases, I am also charge of the financial health of the organization by requesting quarterly grants from Stanford's ASSU which supports the work of many student organizations, and diversifying our income stream.
